We are launching our 50th anniversary today! We look forward to celebrating this evening at our annual family picnic over good food, conversation, and music. Our gift to our students and faculty to commemorate our history are retro-designed t-shirts that harken back to our former rabbit logo as well as the ring tees of the 1970’s and 1980’s.
The rabbit was the Hilltop logo from 1984 until 1993, created by an artist friend of Tonia Wheeler’s (former Head of School). The artist had a child in Children’s House and thought the rabbit represented the energy of the 3-5 year old child. When the logo was launched, there were in fact pet rabbits in each of the Children’s House.
The red square was inspired by the Binomial Cube, a material emblematic of Montessori teaching. It is a material that grows with the students from CH to Middle School, just as our school grew to add programs over the 50 year history.
Jubal Hayes incorporated our rabbit logo and our current red square logo into our 50th Anniversary logo for this year’s anniversary. He used the trinomial cube as the backdrop.
We are thrilled to have grown from our initial days at the West Village Meeting House, through many locations, to today’s American Montessori Society accredited school serving children toddler through middle school!
Save the date for our anniversary weekend celebration on June 10-11, 2023!
