During our Staff In-Service days in August we had the pleasure of sharing an afternoon
with Judy Dow on understanding the concept and construction of a Land
Acknowledgement. Judy has been a tremendous support for our school in
understanding the role that Indigenous people have in this country’s history. For many
years she worked alongside our Middle School program, and in the last few years has
expanded to work with our elementary program, staff, and Board.

This coming Saturday, October 9th, in the context of Indigenous Peoples’ Day
celebration, Judy will be speaking at the Brattleboro Public Library at 2:00 pm. (See the
link below). We hope to see our community join in celebrating and honoring the life and
heritage of the Abenaki people on this day.
