Tom Griffith was raised in Cleveland, Ohio, and still likes to visit regularly to see his family and to hear the orchestra. He met his wife while at Kenyon College and has been following her around ever since: to New Orleans, where he got his first job in a woodworking cabinet shop; to Brattleboro, where he got his first job working for a building contractor; to Thailand, where he got the teaching bug in a refugee camp; and, back to Westminster West, where they built a house, had 2 kids (both HMS grads), got his Masters at Antioch New England and, finally, where Tonia Wheeler offered him a job at Hilltop in the Upper El in 1995. He supposedly retired in 2024 but the kids keep pulling him back. He sings in a number of local choirs, loves to dink around in his wood shop, bike around Denmark with his daughter, and hang out with the grandkids. He currently supports the Upper Elementary program by providing his favorite lessons in the areas of science, history, and literature.
