Catherine Flannery, a native Vermonter, returned to southern Vermont in the fall of 2019. Catherine grew up in Putney where she attended Putney Central School and Brattleboro Union High School. After high school, she completed her Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education (K-6) at Salve Regina University in Rhode Island and went on to complete her Masters in Education at the University of Vermont in Special Education (K-8). She taught as a special educator, classroom teacher, (and was the occasional soccer coach) at Waits River Valley School in central Vermont for nine years before her first son was born. Shortly after her son’s arrival, she and her husband, Christopher, returned to Westminster West.
In the classroom, Catherine is focused on creating an inclusive educational environment that promotes all types of learning styles and thinking. She strives to provide differentiated and evidence-based instruction that meet all of her students’ needs.
Catherine and her husband have two sons, Lachlan and Henry, who have attended Hilltop since the Toddler Program. In her free time, Catherine enjoys spending time with her family, camping, swimming, gardening, reading, and playing the piano.
