El Puente is a community center. I love dhow there was art all around the building. It was magical. And it was so amazing to see how big a role the youth played in the community. The murals were so colorful and inspirational. I loved how both of them told a story of the neighborhood.

-Lena

There was so much powerful artwork at El Puente, including puppets, that really showed what they believed in.

-Tess

I thought it was really cool at El Puente how they were trying to grow a tiny garden in an act of resistance.

One thing that stood out to me at Weeksville was how Erica said that the world that she envisions will not come to be in her lifetime, and that she is trusting us with the work, which shows how bad our world has become. And how she said she trusts it with us showed me how much the adults in the world trust and support us.

-Henry

At El Puente when Adam was talking about how the city only gives them 0.05% of the city budget to spend on parks, he said that while it is a lot of money, it is not enough to maintain all the parks in New York City. He said that some more of the budget could have been spent on parks instead of things that only benefit a few people.

-Elon

In Central Park I thought it was really cool how it was such a community space. I really appreciated taking a break from the city, and I’m sure the New Yorkers do, too,

-Reine

Overall, I think we are still getting closer with each other, and I am excited and sad for our last night tomorrow. I cannot wait for more adventures through the city and many more tasty foods.

Trucks
Three trucks
Two supports giving strength
One giving power
The supports are central, important
I’ll have power on the side
This is how the world should be
We all balance on support
But knowing how
If we don’t know the power
Crash is inevitable
If we don’t know support
Power is the only thing we seek

Filled with memories
