Patty grew up in Vermont, first in North Bennington, Barre, and moving to Brattleboro for high school. She went to Saint Michael’s and then graduated from Castleton University in 1969 with a major in education and minor in art. Her husband was in the military for eight years, and during that time they were stationed in Alabama, Germany, and then back to Alabama for 30 years. They had one daughter who lives in Missouri and four grandchildren. Patty comes from a family of teachers. Her father was a history teacher in North Bennington who went on to be the head of guidance services of Vermont, and then Principal of BAMS in the early sixties. Her brother, John, taught for many years at BUHS and was the track and cross country coach. Patty taught fourth grade for a year in Huntsville, Alabama and then went into business as a custom frame shop owner and operator. Patty enjoys reading, taking care of her chickens, walking two miles every morning, and visiting with her family.
