An Invitation from HMS Board – Committee on Trustees

Here we are in our second month of 2023, with a successful season of Mountain Days under our belts, and students and teachers digging into mid-year academics. This is also the time of year when the HMS Board begins its search for new trustees to join our work in the 2023-2024 academic year, either as a new trustee or as a participant on one of the board committees.

If you are reading this, as I hope everyone in our community will, I would like you to take a moment to consider the ways in which volunteering for Board work at our school can be very rewarding. Being a trustee is a way of helping make sure that Hilltop Montessori School is functioning in a healthy way, and that it is now and continues to be a wonderful place to teach and learn. Being an HMS trustee is also a way of developing warm and meaningful relationships with others who care deeply about our school.

This year our Hilltop community is in the process of writing a new Strategic Plan. While it is still very much in progress, the work we have done so far highlights our need for new trustees with some experience in early childhood development, law, architecture, capital campaign/endowment development, or green energy consultation. We also welcome people for their enthusiasm, good humor, and willingness to communicate openly.

If you are interested, or know someone who you think might be a meaningful addition to our board or one of our committees, please be in touch with us, with Tamara, or with someone you know who is currently serving on the Board. We are always interested in talking further about what serving on Hilltop Montessori School’s Board of Trustees entails.

We will be holding a “Cheesy” Board Meeting to share information about board service with interested people. Please consider joining us on Monday, March 13th at 3:15 for a “Charcuterie Board” and information sharing. We look forward to seeing you!
