Learning Specialist

Kathleen Pillsbury

Kathleen is thrilled to join the Hilltop Montessori community as a learning specialist. After spending the past 8 years splitting her time as an early elementary reading teacher, upper elementary math teacher, academic coach for high school students, and private tutor, she looks forward to concentrating her efforts in one idyllic setting that is Hilltop. She holds a B.A. in Child and Family Studies from Bates College and an M.Ed from Lesley University, and she has spent two decades as a teacher of various ages and subjects- wholly loving each and every experience. After stints in the Boston area, coastal Rhode Island, and northern Connecticut, she, her husband Dave, their daughters, and a menagerie of animals have put roots down in western, MA. While Kathleen’s oldest daughter attends NMH, her two other daughters are as excited as she is to join Hilltop. Kathleen is eager to bring her joy for teaching young people to this school, where she will support student learning in fun, creative, and effective ways.

Outside of teaching, Kathleen can be found walking her pack of rescue dogs, laughing with her family, puttering in her flower and vegetable gardens, and blueberry picking. She also enjoys playing pickup soccer and watching all kinds of birds (along with squirrels, raccoons, and skunks) who dine excessively at their home-crafted bird buffet.
