Hilltop has been a part of my life for as long as my memory extends. I have vivid, tactile memories of thumbtacking my way around the metal insets, washing the lunch chairs (somehow a much-sought after activity), and playing house during recess in the Little Red House at Centre Congregational Church. From there it was onto the Prouty Center for Lower El, where I made sense of long division, lavished adoration on our beloved teacher, Diane Elsom, and practiced extensively for our performance of The 500 Hats of Bartholomew Cubbins. While my student journey at Hilltop ended in 1987 (Upper El didn’t exist yet!), I worked at Summer Fun at Austine during high school and beyond, and prioritized Montessori education for my children as long as we had access. And now I’m happy to be serving Hilltop in its newest iteration up at Summit Circle as a trustee.
